Why your AI content sounds generic (and how to fix it)
Published 28 days ago • 2 min read
Hi Reader,
Your AI content sounds generic because it's missing two things. Roots and seeds. Let me explain...
It's live on Friday 21st Nov, 11am Sydney time (AEDT) + recording after
So, here's what you need to build your own Content System (mine is the Content Forest!) that helps you easily repurpose and create content that SOUNDS like you, not like everyone else, and not like a robot!
The Roots - This guides AI to create in YOUR way:
What you value
Your vision
How you want to connect with your audience
Strategy and direction behind your content
Your style guide
How you talk and share content
Your formatting preferences
The Seeds - This is where AI learns YOUR voice, YOUR unique take, YOUR ideas, YOUR thinking.:
Your source material
Transcripts from podcasts webinars, and voice notes
Your original writing.
When you have both roots and seeds, AI stops creating bland generic content.
It starts pulling YOUR ideas and repackaging them in YOUR voice. One transcript becomes weeks of authentic content.
ChatGPT (no context): Generic tips with emoji overload.
My Content Forest (with roots + seeds): Content I'd actually post, that sounds like me, with little to no tweaking.
The more seeds you plant, the better AI gets at sounding like you. Not "good enough". 99% your voice. Where you fiddle with one line and hit 'publish'.
The Roots and Seeds are just the tip of the Forest-Iceberg. There is a lot more to a fabulously smooth, personalised content system supported by AI. The Roots and Seeds will take you far, and I'm delighted to take many of you further!

Hi Reader, Today is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). I've been thinking deeply and experiencing the ableism that seeps through into so many spaces where folks (especially big organisations) claim to be supportive, accessible and inclusive. And that's where it ends, at the claim. The reality is possibly WORSE than if they had not claimed any access efforts at all… "but at least we tried, right?" Wrong. Performative Accessibility happens when spaces, events and organisations...
Hi Reader, Tired of AI content that sounds like generic robot nonsense? I've been deep in AI-content-generation hyperfocus in a few ways - some for years and some for days... Let me explain. My hyperfocus of the last few years - the Content Forest: Building a framework and system to help me easily create and share content that's aligned with my business goals, my ideas, my values, and what people want to learn from me. I love AI, automation and I love learning about new ways to use these. But...
Hi Reader, Tldr (too long didn't read): I share my experiences attending a conference that had a poorly-created 'quiet room' and advocacted hard to get them to improve it. I share about why this was so problematic. At the end I share key points 'What does it look like to do better inclusion and accessibility?' you can scroll down to there if you just want the quick tips! Last week I spent Monday to Friday attending the incredible SXSW Sydney conference, a wide-ranging conference that spans...
